Running, Connecting, and Moving Toward the Future: SHARP’s Marathon Events Around the World

Across Southeast Asia, Sharp companies are organizing events in their respective countries centered on running. Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines held individual events, yet shared a common aspiration: to take a step toward a better tomorrow—together.

In this article, we take you on a tour of Sharp’s running events around the world!

Malaysia: Now the Country’s Third-Largest Marathon Event After Three Consecutive Years—SHARP HSNKL 2025

Our first stop is Malaysia.

Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (SEM) co-hosted “SHARP Hari Sukan Negara^*1Kuala Lumpur (HSNKL) 2025″ in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, timed to coincide with Malaysia’s National Sports Day.

The event started at 3 a.m., while the city was still dark, and runners ran through the streets of Kuala Lumpur before dawn.

This was the third consecutive year of the event. The first year drew 9,000 registered participants, and by 2024 that had grown to about 15,000 — making it now known as the third-largest marathon event in Malaysia.

For the 2025 event, a new 30km category was added alongside the existing 3km, 5km, 10km, and 21km categories, offering a place for people of all fitness levels — from beginners to serious runners — to take on a challenge suited to them. SEM’s ongoing commitment shines through in promoting community health, encouraging an active lifestyle, and nation-building through sport.

Indonesia: Every Step Toward the Forest of the Future — “Run For The Future”

Next, let’s head to Indonesia!

P.T. Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) celebrated its 56th anniversary. As part of its “Road to 60 Years” initiative looking ahead to its 60th anniversary, SEID held “Run For The Future – 6.0K Fun Run” at SPARK Senayan^*2 in Jakarta on June 21, 2026.

Under the theme “Every Step Matters,” around 600 people took part in the event, running 6km through the Sudirman Car Free Day pedestrian zone.

What makes this event unique is that it doesn’t end with the run. It comes with a follow-up activity: planting the same number of trees as the number of participants. In partnership with “Hutan itu Indonesia,” an Indonesian nonprofit that promotes awareness of forest conservation, the tree-planting activity was carried out on July 8, 2026.

By combining sport, community connection, and sustainability, the event delivered the message that “even the small steps each of us takes can add up together to build a better future.”

*2 SPARK Senayan is the nickname for “Senayan Park,” a commercial facility located in the Senayan area of central Jakarta, featuring outdoor areas, a lake, jogging tracks, a rooftop garden, and a skywalk.

The Philippines: A Race Powered by Community Spirit—Sharp Run 2026

Our final stop is the Philippines.

“Sharp Run 2026” was held at Filinvest City in Alabang on April 19, 2026. Three categories — 3km, 5km, and 10km — were offered, giving both those aiming for a new personal best and those just starting out in running a chance to enjoy the event at their own pace.

From the early-morning gathering to the final all-out sprint, the venue’s energy stayed high throughout. Every step on the course was filled with a sense of community unity, a strong will to finish, and the excitement unique to race day.

Congratulations to everyone who finished the race, and to all the runners who stood on the podium!

Participants also received race kits with singlets and medals, along with finisher shirts for 10km runners — a happy bonus. It truly was a day built by the community, together.

Running Is a Step Toward the Future

Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines — different countries, different scales, but every event shares a common spirit: valuing “health” and “community connection.”
