SHARP Holds Business Briefing

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Sharp held a business briefing at the Sharp Shibaura Office in Minato-ku, Tokyo. In addition to initiatives in new businesses that will drive future growth, we explained the progress and strategies of Brand Business and Display Device Business, which are positioned as core businesses in the Medium-Term Management Plan for Fiscal Years 2025-2027 announced on May 12, 2025, to members of the media, securities analysts, and institutional investors who joined both onsite and online.

At the outset, Tetsuji Kawamura, President CEO, explained Sharp’s initiatives for renewed growth and the direction the company aims to take.

He then described plans to begin selling AI servers by fiscal 2027 by leveraging Hon Hai’s procurement and manufacturing capabilities, as well as the commercialization of satellite communications (next-generation communications) during fiscal 2027 toward establishing communications infrastructure that supports the concept of “AI Anywhere.” He also explained the progress of new business initiatives, including Industry DX, EV mobility, and space-use solar cells.

Next, Yasufumi Sugahara, Senior Executive Managing Officer, Co-COO, and Head of Smart Life Business Group, explained Smart Life Business, covering fiscal 2025 results and key achievements, the fiscal 2026 business plan, the business environment, and the full-year earnings forecast.

He introduced initiatives to strengthen the lineup of high-value-added models in the domestic clean laundry business, as well as initiatives in the air conditioner business in Japan and overseas and the kitchen business in the United States. He then explained that Sharp is working to fully develop monetization in AI service businesses, such as agentic AI services in the AIoT business, while also expanding B2B businesses and strengthening branding.

Shigeru Kobayashi, Executive Managing Officer, Co-COO, and Head of Smart Workplace Business Group, then explained Smart Workplace Business, including fiscal 2025 results and key achievements as well as the fiscal 2026 earnings forecast. He also described strategies for each segment: Mobile Communication/Computing Solutions and Workplace Solutions <Office Solutions/Business Displays>.

He went on to outline future directions, including “transforming existing businesses into smart businesses,” “strengthening IT services through M&A,” “enhancing the AI consulting business,” “expanding robotics business initiatives,” and “transforming the communications business.”

Finally, Katsuhiro Kawai, Executive Managing Officer in charge of Display Devices and President of Sharp Display Technology Corporation, introduced Sharp’s Display Device Business. He explained fiscal 2025 full-year results, transformation of the cost structure through asset-light operations, revenue improvement through focus businesses at each plant, and specific initiatives for new businesses aimed at renewed growth, including ePoster and optical components for AR applications.

During the Q&A session, participants asked a wide range of questions about Sharp’s business direction, including its approach to human resource development, future relationship with Hon Hai, and AI server business.
