Sharp Holds Press Conference for Incoming President CEO
April 6, 2026

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Sharp held a press conference at its headquarters’ hall, where Senior Executive Managing Officer and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) Tetsuji Kawamura, who is scheduled to assume the position of President CEO effective April 1, addressed the media. Below is an overview of the event.
■ Speech by Current President CEO Masahiro Okitsu
At the outset, Masahiro Okitsu, current President CEO (scheduled to assume the role of Vice Chairman effective April 1), expressed his sincere gratitude to all stakeholders for their support and cooperation during his nearly two years in office since assuming the position on June 27, 2024.

During his tenure, he explained, Sharp achieved key milestones toward renewed growth, including bringing its asset-light strategy for the device business to a certain conclusion, expanding investment in brand businesses, accelerating initiatives in new business development, and establishing a new corporate slogan.
Okitsu also highlighted the company’s financial performance, noting that Sharp returned to net surplus for the first time in three years in fiscal 2024, and that fiscal 2025 performance has remained steady, with the company’s financial foundation improving at a pace exceeding initial expectations.
Through these efforts, Sharp has completed a phase of structural reform and building the foundation for renewed growth. With this turning point reached, Okitsu explained he decided to pass the baton to Kawamura, who has made significant contributions as a business leader across the company and is currently accelerating new business initiatives as CBDO.
■ Speech by Incoming President CEO Tetsuji Kawamura

Kawamura began by introducing his career background, noting that since joining Sharp in 1984, he has spent approximately two-thirds of his career—around 25 years—working overseas, primarily in global B2B businesses.

He then referred to the words of Sharp’s founder, Tokuji Hayakawa—“Make products that others want to imitate.”—as well as Sharp’s management principles, philosophy, and the new corporate slogan, “In step with your future.” He emphasized his commitment to preserving and embodying Sharp’s unique DNA, and set an example to express Sharp’s identity.
Kawamura explained that his mission as President is to maximize corporate value. To that end, he stated his intention to focus on realizing renewed growth through the early materialization of new businesses and the global expansion of SHARP brand, as well as strengthening the company’s communication capability by proactively sharing Sharp’s direction, initiatives, and achievements through its management team.
Regarding the new management structure effective April 1, he explained that the business development function has been placed directly under the President to enable headquarters-led acceleration of new business initiatives. Kawamura will concurrently serve as the overall head of business development, working closely with Mitsuru Tokuyama, who is scheduled to assume the role of Chief Technical Officer (CTO), in a dual leadership structure.

Further expressed was his strong determination to leverage Sharp’s business foundation, his extensive overseas experience and communication skills, and the strengths of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., which maintains deep connections with global enterprises and governments, to drive the global expansion of SHARP brand.
In closing, Kawamura stated, “I will devote all of my experience and knowledge to leading Sharp into its next stage, and I will give this endeavor my utmost effort.”

Following the speeches, a Q&A session was held and the press conference concluded.

Centered around its new President CEO, Tetsuji Kawamura, Sharp will further strengthen the global expansion of its existing brand businesses while fully committing to the launch and concrete development of new businesses that will support future growth. Through these efforts, Sharp aims to accelerate the pace of sustainable, mid- to long-term growth. We hope you’ll look forward to it.
