In recent times, challenges such as labor shortages and rising labor costs have accelerated innovations such as digital transformation (DX) of offices, smartification of factories and logistics, and automation of the retail industry, which are leading to new social issues.

To address such challenges, Sharp has revamped its SHARP Interactive Showroom in Shibaura, Minato-ku, Tokyo so that corporate customers can explore a range of solutions it offers. The showroom reopened on November 11th, 2024.

I interviewed Ms. Okano from Marketing Department of Sharp Marketing Japan Corporate Business Solutions Division (SMJ-BS), who oversaw the renovation of the new showroom, “3X3 Hub SHARP Interactive Showroom” (hereafter referred to as 3X3 Hub).

Ms. Okano introducing the showroom

What is 3X3 Hub for?

3X3 Hub is a showroom where corporate customers and sales partners can view and experience Sharp’s solutions. Sharp offers a comprehensive range of products, solutions, and services that leverage Sharp’s unique strengths.

What does the name “3X3 Hub” mean?

The name “3X3 Hub” reflects the concept of a hub where Sharp’s various products and solutions converge, realized through the combination of three zones, Smart Office, Smart Retail, and Smart Logistics, and three transformations, DX (Digital Transformation), CX (Communication Transformation), and GX (Green Transformation)1. This hub aims to provide ideas and new discoveries for solving customer challenges.

*1 DX (Digital Transformation): Initiatives that use digital technology to improve business processes and create new business models.
CX (Communication Transformation): Initiatives that enable agile actions through the visualization of management resources and data-based predictions.
GX (Green Transformation): Initiatives aimed at transforming economic and social systems to achieve sustainable growth through efforts to create a decarbonized society.

We tailor the entrance and the three subsequent exhibition areas to suit the purposes of visiting customers.

Now, let’s take a tour of the showroom.

At the entrance, large LED displays (162-inch×2) welcome visitors with impressive visuals showcasing our various solutions. This entrance will also be used for new product launch events, so you may see it as a venue for press conferences in the future.

In the Smart Office zone, we propose smart meeting solutions. This zone is divided into three corners, Discussion Hub, Board Meeting Space, and COCORO OFFICE Space. Each offers products that enhance workplace environments and office operations.

Discussion Hub features smart remote meeting solutions with 360-degree cameras that capture all participants and automatically focus on those standing up during presentations. It also showcases systems like the BIG PAD touch display and the TeleOffice web conferencing service for easy information sharing.

Board Meeting Space proposes environments conducive to important decisions and problem-solving, with large displays that accurately represent information and situations related to the discussion themes. It also features a smart meeting solution that records and transcribes meetings, allowing participants to focus on the discussion.

In the Smart Retail zone, Sharp showcases solutions for stores and public facilities, divided into two corners, Back Office/Control Room and Retail Gallery.

Back Office/Control Room proposes back office environments that enhance comfort and productivity. For example, Sharp introduces environments that make it easier to grasp on-site situations using digital signage software (e-Signage S) and attribute analysis with cameras.

In the Smart Logistics zone, factory solutions, logistics innovation, and automation are exhibited, divided into two corners, Backyard and Parking.

Backyard features picking support systems using smart glasses for efficient and accurate item selection, and automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) for automation and efficiency in warehouses and factories. Visitors can experience the actual size of the AGVs on site.

WIZIoT Remote Monitoring Service

This service streamlines the routine inspection of factory equipment meters. You can experience a demonstration where meter information is captured using a smartphone camera or surveillance camera, and AI reads the data for meter reading. This service is expected to reduce the effort of routine inspections and prevent human errors from visual checks and handwritten entries.

In the Parking corner, Sharp introduces parking lot systems using sensors and cameras. These solutions eliminate the need for lock plates, ticket machines, and gates, addressing various parking issues.

In this demonstration, when a car enters the parking lot, the in-vehicle sensor detects the car and sends information to the payment machine. The payment machine then instructs the network camera to capture an image, from which it generates entry information and sends it to the management system. You can observe the entire process up to the payment at the payment machine.

As you can see, 3X3 Hub is packed with exhibits of business equipment and solution proposals. Sharp offers a variety of products and solutions, such as AGV for warehouses and factories and parking solutions like parking lot systems.
