Sharp Indonesia Encourages Young People to Become NaturalistsThrough the Sharp Biodiversity Hunt 2026
To mark World Biodiversity Day 2026, PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia(SEID) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by organizing The Sharp Biodiversity Hunt 2026 — an environmental education program designed to inspire young people to learn about, observe, and document Indonesia’s rich biodiversity firsthand through a citizen science approach.

Exploring Nature at PIK Mangrove Ecotourism
Participants were invited to conduct direct observations of various species of flora and fauna at the PIK Mangrove Ecotourism area in North Jakarta. The site serves as a natural habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, including water birds, mangroves, reptiles, insects, molluscs, and other coastal biota. Armed with field guides, cameras, and smartphones, the young participants eagerly explored the lush mangrove trails to identify and record the species they encountered.

Contributing to Global Citizen Science
All findings were documented and uploaded via the iNaturalist app, a global platform widely used by the scientific community, researchers, and conservationists to collect biodiversity data from across the globe. By participating in this initiative, the young naturalists contributed real, valuable data to the worldwide effort to monitor and protect biodiversity.

A Collaborative Effort
The event was facilitated by Yayasan TERANGI, a respected Indonesian conservation organization, and supported by staff from the Ecotourism Mangrove PIK facility. Representatives from Sharp Indonesia — including Pandu Setio (PR & Brand Communication Head Department), Imam Muda (PR & CSR Supervisor), and Safira Qurratu’aini (PR & CSR) — joined the participants to celebrate the spirit of environmental stewardship.
