【New Executive Introduction】Tetsuji Kawamura
July 23, 2025

I am Tetsuji Kawamura, Senior Executive Managing Officer and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO).
The newly established role of CBDO is to identify new business opportunities beyond our existing business domains, build strong relationships with customers and partners, and drive business from a strategic perspective to ensure Sharp’s long-term success. As a member of the head office executive team, I also see it as my mission to contribute to building a stronger corporate headquarter. I am committed to fulfilling these responsibilities with my many years of experience in sales.
One of our long-standing challenges has been the underutilization of the customer touchpoints held by each business unit, despite the breadth of products and technologies Sharp offers. To address this, I now oversee four corporate sales groups—Smart Life Corporate Sales, Smart Workplace Corporate Sales, Mobile Business Promotion, and Sales Strategy Planning. By sharing customer information across departments and proposing a diverse range of solutions, we aim to strengthen cross-selling. Our goal is not just to increase revenue but to build strong, win-win relationships with our customers.
I’ve spent most of my career overseas: 19 years in the U.S., 5 years in the U.K., and 1 year in Germany. Through those experiences, I came to understand just how vast and culturally diverse the world is, more than I thought initially. .
In the U.S., I learned the importance of clearly expressing one’s opinions—saying “Yes” or “No” decisively in business situations. It was quite a contrast to Japan and initially surprising. But no matter which country you’re in, human relationships and communication are always the keys to success. The importance of building win-win relationships and meeting face-to-face remains the same across cultures.
Every aspect of business—whether it’s developing, purchasing, using products, or providing services—is built on trust. We all have moments when we want others to accept our requests or proposals, both internally and externally. In those moments, I encourage you to actively listen, consider the other person’s perspective, and try to truly understand them in your everyday interactions.
Lastly, Sharp is a global company with bases around the world. I advise you to embrace a global mindset and engage with different cultures. Regardless of which department you belong to, I hope you value communication with your colleagues.
Let’s work together to build the new Sharp!

Hobbies
I’m a big TV fan and enjoy a wide range of programs, including baseball (a loyal fan of the Giants and Yankees—while in the U.S., I had the thrill of watching Shohei Ohtani hit a home run live!), comedy shows (especially the big comedy competitions), variety shows, and news.
I also love food—I’m a foodie through and through! I still remember the delicious baby eels I had at a tiny restaurant in Barcelona.
Overseas Life Memories
When I was assigned to the U.S. with my family, we spent weekends shopping, going to amusement parks, and having BBQs together. On my third assignment to the U.S., I went alone. When I returned to Japan 10 years later, my daughter had already left the nest—it was a bittersweet homecoming.
