S&O ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD (SOEM) has begun its new business category with Foxconn since October 2019.  In order to succeed in this new business category, SOEM employees had been working diligently and putting much efforts from learning of new product knowledge/ technology to actual production works.

However, as the old adage goes, ‘Man proposes but God disposes’.  After few months’ efforts, in March 2020, when we had finally got ourselves ready to start our Production for Foxconn product, the spread of COVID-19 pandemic globally made it inevitable for the Malaysian Government to impose the Movement Control Order as one of the measures to curb the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. As one of the companies operating in Malaysia under Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), we had no choice but to stop our operations as to comply with the restriction of Movement Control Order.

At the end of April 2020, SOEM resumed operations in progression upon obtaining MITI’s approval.  There were many unexpected and critical challenges under the new norms throughout this timing.  We started the production for Foxconn products, but we were not allowed to ship out our products without quality validation by technical experts from Foxconn.  As such, we had to get our quality validation done by sending samples to Foxconn designated sites aboard and also Foxconn would check and confirm our production processes via CCTV.  Although it was hard, we still got through this challenging and turbulent phase.

On 12 August 2020, we finally got green light from Foxconn to ship out our complete set of the said products.  To commemorate the hard work of these few months, a simple ceremony for this 1^st lot shipment of 23 pallets (3,800 sets of Foxconn Product) was held at our finished goods warehouse.  This ceremony was witnessed by the key personnel of Foxconn Production.  During the ceremony, the Managing Director Mr. Katsutoshi Teraoka expressed his gratitude to all concerned employees for their continual support and effort.  At the end of the session, a candy sweet was issued to all attendees as well as all Foxconn production staffs through HR Department as a gesture from the Company to thank and motivate them.
