On Tuesday, March 24, Sharp started production of surgical masks in Japan starting at Mie Plant in Taki.
This decision was made based on the intentions from the Japanese government to take countermeasures against the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spread, and Sharp responded to this request as we own a clean room at our Mie Plant that could be utilized for this cause.

Sharp does not have a history and experience of producing masks, but considering the current COVID-19 outspread, the company made this decision as an act of social contribution.
Forces from various ends within the company were brought together as “One SHARP” to realize the start of the production, from setting up the facility, equipment, production, down to package design and preparation for online sales, along with the cooperation of Hon Hai Group and other counterparts.
Sharp aims to contribute to stable supply of surgical masks to those in need under this difficult situation.
