SPC CSR Activity for Taal Volcano Eruption Evacuees

After 43 years,  the Taal Volcano erupted last January 12, 2020, spewing ashes measuring 100 meters high. As of January 24, 2020, a total of 88,842 families / 346,244 persons were affected. There were 915 recorded Volcanic Earthquakes. 643 flights were cancelled, 383 local and 260 international due to volcanic ash from Taal Volcano. Power interruptions were experienced in 20 cities / municipalities and classes and work schedules were suspended. Cost of agriculture damage is Php3.2B or USD63M.

 

SPC Head Office is located 81 kms and SPC Biñan Warehouse 73.3 kms from Taal, and were not spared from the ash fall.

 

CSR ACTIVITY – January 23, 2020

 

In the light of the Taal volcano eruption, SPC CSR team called for a donation among SPC employees in cash or in kind. Remarkably, we were able to generate 200 food packs, hygiene kits, and clothing for the evacuees.

SPC CSR activity was conducted in Ibaan, Batangas last January 23, 2020, where 3,782 evacuees stayed in their 8 evacuation centers namely: Panghayaan, Talaibon, Matala, Palindan, Malainin, Salaban, Bungahan and Mabalor.

 

In cooperation with the Municipal of Ibaan, Batangas, SPC management offered“Free Laundry, Free Detergents” by handing out 24 units of Twintub Washing Machine with Ariel detergents, 24 units of Electric Fan, and donation of employees. Honorable Mayor Edralyn Joy A. Salvame of Ibaan, Batangas, wholeheartedly welcomed and thanked Sharp for the heart of service that we are giving.
