
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) has conducted the AC (Air Conditioner) Factory Starting Ceremony in Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC).
The ceremony was attended by Japan Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, Director General ILMATE (Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment & Electronic Industries), Ministry of Industry, Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Taufik Bawazier, President & CEO, Sharp Corporation, Mr. Robert Wu, Vice President SAS, Mr. Sam Wu, President Director, SEID, Mr. Shinji Teraoka and Senior GM Sales & Marketing, Mr. Andry Adi Utomo.
The ceremony was opened by Mr. Shinji Teraoka’s Opening Speech. Then followed up by speech of Mr. Robert Wu. He said:
“Increased purchasing power and market competitiveness of Indonesian consumers allowed Sharp to push ahead with the construction of air conditioner factories. I would like to thank the President for his excellent investment policies to help Indonesia become manufacturing-centric. Equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, Sharp’s new AC factory aims to boost the development of the local economy. Sharp air conditioners made in Indonesia will also be exported to other Southeast Asian markets and some Pacific island regions such as Timor-Leste, Fiji and Papua New Guinea due to the high demand for air conditioners in these countries. Sharp’s vision is to be recognized as Japan’s No. 1 household brand that transforms homes and businesses.”


This AC factory is SEID’s 4th factory and will be production base to fulfill domestic and export markets. Simultaneously with the inauguration of the AC factory, Sharp also introduced as series of AC products manufactured in Indonesia, namely ‘Garuda Series’ which consist of several types : Split Basic Standard AC, Standard Split AC with Plasmacluster, Split Basic Inverter AC, Split Inverter AC. with Plasmacluster. Available capacities range from ½ PK to 1 PK. It is hoped that through this AC factory, SEID’s business performance will grow and maintain its position as the ‘No.1 Electronic Brand’ in Indonesia.
