According to a survey by the Central Statistics Agency of Indonesia, 90% of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sales have been significantly reduced by the Covid-19 pandemic. The economic downturn has also affected the MSME sector, with MSME players looking for new markets to survive, offering attractive offers, such as price discounts and bonus grants, and taking a variety of measures, but not enough as they are constrained by a variety of things, including equipment and human resource capacity.

Against this situation, P.T. Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) extended a helping hand and assisted MSMEs to survive during the pandemic, through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program “Sharp Berdikari”. This is a community empowerment program to develop local economies by improving the quality of human and natural resources so that they can increase their productivity towards a creative and independent society.

In collaboration with partner NGO, Filantra, the initial program of “Sharp Berdikari” will focus on the city of Jakarta, more precisely the Tanjung Priok, Warakas district in North Jakarta. Through this program, it is expected that SEID will play a role in the government programs to implement the Sustainable Development Goals and environmental protection activities.
