Since mid of February 2020, Indonesia has been overshadowed by the new Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Up to Monday, 23 March, Jakarta’s COVID-19 Response team (corona.jakarta.go.id) listed 514 cases of infected patients, 646 patients under monitoring, and 1,447 under supervision. 29 patients were cured, while 48 others lost their lives. This high mortality rate is very worrying, and has the potential to increase every day.

PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID), through its social responsibility program ‘Bakti For Negeri’ supported the battle against this situation by supplying N-95 masks that are needed by medical personnel. Since 23 March until 26 March 2020, SEID donated total 625 N-95 masks to Kalideres Regional Hospital, Jatisampurna Hospital, Mardi Rahayu Kudus, and Padma Medika Gresik.

Internally, SEID has taken several anticipatory actions as well. First, SEID conducted enlightenment about the dangers of the COVID-19 virus. Hand sanitizers were also placed in every meeting room and masks for employees, as well as implementing social distance and spray disinfectant in the office. SEID also conducted a Work From Home (WFH) program, which is divided into several shifts in order to support Indonesia’s Government Program to fight COVID-19 Virus, namely #dirumahaja.

SEID hopes that through these actions, we can assist Indonesia in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and in the future be able to restore the economy as it was before.
