“If only humans like us will learn to apply the law of nature, everyone will be safe and happy. Nature is wealth, and environment is the best way to remind us of God’s existence and equality in all His creation. I am pleased that Sharp (Phils.) Corporation (SPC) has this kind of programme that aims to inculcate environmental awareness to the younger generation.”
These were the words of Ms. Nur Haziyah Fatin, Miss Earth Malaysia 2019, to the students of Pedro E. Diaz High School who gathered to participate in the second phase of SPC’s Environmental Awareness Program last October 30, 2019 in Alabang, Muntinlupa CIty. Apart from Ms. Fatin, the other guests of honour in the well-attended activity included Bb. Pilipinas – San Pablo City (Miss Philippines-San Pablo City), Ms. Danielle Isabelle Dolk and Woman of Malaysia National Director, Ms. Adriana Binti Abdullah.
The event was highlighted by the discussion of best environmental practices of SPC, which, through the years, has built a reputation in the Philippines for advancing environmentally sustainable products and services. The students also enjoyed arts and crafts which demonstrated to them that materials which could initially be construed as trash could be turned into beautiful and useful items.
“We are grateful to SPC for choosing our school for its Environmental Education Programme”, said Dr. Rosendo Sangalang, principal of Pedro E. Diaz High School. “This activity has made a significant in the mindset of our students that environmental protection and environmental conservation are the responsibility of everyone – and that they can only be effective when everyone makes his/her share, no matter how small.”
The Environmental Awareness Program was a joint effort of Sharp (Phils.) Corporation, Woman of Malaysia Pageant with its National Director Ms. Adriana Binti Abdullah, Environmental Student Organization, I am SAM ( Shaker and Mover) foundation with its President Ameera Cabusao, and the teachers and students of Pedro E. Diaz High School.
